A lot of families are slightly unsure how their shoot will unfold. Children don’t want to sit still, parents worry everyone needs to behave, and someone usually asks how long it will take. All perfectly normal.
The best portraits don’t come from perfect smiles or matching outfits. They happen once people forget about the camera. My job is to make that possible - keeping things relaxed, letting moments unfold, and knowing when not to press the shutter.
After photographing families for many years, I’ve learned that the images people value most aren’t always the obvious ones. It’s a look, a gesture, the way someone leans in without thinking. Those details often make more sense later, when time has moved on.
Many parents - particularly mums - are usually the ones behind the camera. A portrait session is a chance to step back into the frame, not posed or perfected, but simply present, as your family knows you.
Sessions can take place at home, somewhere meaningful, or just out and about. I work calmly, without rushing, and adapt to whatever the day brings.
I’m an Oxfordshire photographer, ideally placed for gorgeous photography in the Cotswolds, the South Coast, London or Oxford, but always happy to photograph families wherever they happen to be.
Smiling, laughing, concentrating or relaxed – every moment captured by me for your family to treasure.
